Migration of KROSS online store to Magento 2.4

KROSS is one of the largest bicycle manufacturers in Central and Eastern Europe. With many years of experience in the design and production of high-quality two-wheelers, the company offers innovative and reliable products for both amateurs and professionals.
Introduction
Growing customer expectations and the need to modernise its technological infrastructure led KROSS to turn to Exorigo-Upos S.A. to migrate its online store to Magento 2.4.
Project objectives:
- Increasing the efficiency and stability of the e-commerce platform.
- Facilitate content and product management.
- Integration with the company’s key systems: Akeneo PIM and SAP.
- Optimise user experience (UX) and the store’s mobile version.
- Streamlining purchasing processes and customer service.
Challenges
Migration process
- Analysis and planning—The current platform was audited, and key requirements were identified.
- Data migration – Transferred content, products, orders, and customer data to Magento 2.4 using dedicated migration tools.
- Integration with KROSS systems:
- Akeneo PIM – enabling central management of product information.
- SAP ERP integration allows for the automation of logistics and accounting processes.
- Performance optimisation – implementation of architecture and technologies that positively impact page loading speed.
- UX testing and optimisation: Functional and performance tests were carried out, and corrections were made to increase the store’s usability.
- Implementation and monitoring – launch of the new platform and ongoing technical support after implementation.
Migrating large amounts of data, including products, orders, and customers, required precise planning and seamless integration with ERP (SAP) and PIM (Akeneo) systems, which avoided downtime in sales. At the same time, the system architecture was changed, adapting it to modern security standards. In addition, the store’s speed was optimised, which translated into improved conversion rates.
The migration of the KROSS store took place at a challenging time for the entire bicycle industry—demand was declining, and we had to guarantee the continuity of online sales. That’s why we needed stable technology and a trusted partner who understood the complexity of such a process. Thanks to the joint efforts, the project was possible to carry out without downtime and with high-quality service. This shows that well-chosen technological cooperation has become a real support for business, adds Robert Balkowski, E-commerce Director at KROSS.
Results
- Better performance – page load times have been reduced, which has positively impacted the user experience.
- More efficient administration – Thanks to integration with Akeneo and SAP, the management of product data and logistics operations has become more effective.
- Increase in conversions – Improved navigation and optimization of the shopping process contributed to an increase in the number of transactions.
- Security – using the latest Magento 2.4 standards has ensured better data protection.
As Marta Kliś, E-commerce Development Manager at KROSS, emphasises, Coordinating data migration, integration with SAP, Akeneo and other systems, implementation of all legal requirements, and UX tests required full synchronisation of many teams and efficient communication. The trust between KROSS and Exorigo-Upos was crucial, because it was only thanks to efficient cooperation and quick decision-making that it was possible to maintain the schedule and avoid downtime in sales. From my point of view, the most crucial effect of this project, apart from the implementation itself, is that we have gained a foundation for further development and proof that in demanding conditions, it is possible to act effectively if partners play to one goal.
Summary
The migration of the KROSS e-commerce platform to Magento 2.4 was a strategic step that enabled the company to develop further and adapt to the dynamically changing market. Thanks to modern technological solutions, KROSS has improved its operational efficiency and provided customers with a better shopping experience.
